Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how WebSpeed (operated by KO Data) uses cookies and similar technologies on webspeed.pro, the audit tool and the account area. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Local and session storage are similar browser features that keep data on your device. They let a site remember your choices and function correctly. Everything below is first-party — stored for webspeed.pro itself — and nothing is used for advertising.
2. Strictly necessary
These keep the Service working and are set without asking.
| Name | Purpose | Where | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
ws_lang | Remembers your chosen interface language. | Cookie | ~1 year |
ws_key | Remembers an audit access key so you can reopen a private report and proxy links within a session. | Cookie | ~1 year (session-scoped) |
kc-consent | Remembers whether you allowed or declined analytics, so we do not ask on every page. | Local storage | 12 months after “Allow”, 6 months after “Decline” |
ws-theme | Remembers the theme you switched the site to. Set only when you use the theme toggle or open a link that picks a theme. | Local storage | 30 days |
ws-currency | Remembers whether you chose to see prices in euros or US dollars. Set only when you use the currency switch. | Local storage | 12 months |
3. Analytics — only if you allow it
We measure how the site and the audit tool are used with KO Data’s own analytics counter. KO Data is the company that runs WebSpeed, so this is not a third-party service. The counter is not loaded at all until you choose “Allow” in the cookie banner; if you decline, none of the entries below is set.
With your consent, it records the pages you view, time on page and activity, the page you landed on and the referring address (including campaign tags), events in the audit tool (for example, that an audit started or finished, with the scores it produced), and — when you submit a form on the site — the contact details you entered, so a request can be matched to the visit it came from. The data is sent to KO Data’s servers at Hetzner in the EU.
| Name | Purpose | Where | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ko_uid | Pseudonymous visitor ID, so repeat visits count as one visitor. | Cookie and local storage | 5 years |
_ko_visit_id | ID of the current visit, tying its page views together. | Cookie and local storage | 5 years |
_ko_session_id, _ko_touch_id__session | The current browser session. | Cookie | Until you close the browser |
_ko_client_id, _ko_touch_id | Link your visits to a request you send us. | Cookie and local storage (ko.user.*) | 5 years |
ko.metrika.* | The first page and referrer of your visit, activity timers, and the last form submitted (so it is not sent twice). | Local and session storage | Until cleared / end of session |
ws_ev:*, ws_run:* | Keep one event — such as “audit finished” — from being counted twice when the page reloads. | Session storage | End of session |
That is the complete list. We set no advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If we add anything, it will appear on this page first — and if it is not strictly necessary, it will wait for your consent.
4. Changing your choice
Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page to see the banner again and change your answer. Choosing “Decline” also deletes the analytics entries listed in section 3 from your browser. Your choice is not a condition for using the Service — everything works the same either way.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set most browsers to block them. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may mean parts of the Service (like remembered language or report access) no longer work.
5. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service evolves. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version.
